RBT Orchester: Swing & String (CD)

The RBT Orchestra continues the tradition of the German Dance and Entertainment Orchestra and was already unique in Germany when it was founded in the summer of 1945 by Michael Jary at Berliner Rundfunk. which was stylistically in line with American swing music of the 1940s, which was frowned upon in the Third Reich, but also a symphonic string apparatus including wooden instruments and a harp. Even then, recordings were made that on the one hand fulfilled the standards of an entertainment orchestra in the continuation of the German Dance and Entertainment Orchestra from 1942 and 1943 under the direction of Franz Grothe and Georg Haentzschel, on the other hand they had the inimitable smack of jazzy swing music played. And this is exactly where - with the stylistic experience of another 50 years of popular music history - lies the unique quality of today's RBT orchestra.
